There was a time in my life where I was wholly apathetic about being a woman. Not because of any choice, really, but because the way my life had panned out had not left me with any reason to be glad of my femininity -- but all of that has changed. And it's not what I thought it would look like.
Happy International Women's Day!
I am grateful for all the women who have stood before this generation and fought for equal rights, for their voice and for the growth of our society as a whole.
I am grateful that being a women in this day and age looks like whatever is true within us; that some of us are maidens, some of us are warriors, some healers. I am grateful that some stand in the public eye while others fight in the quiet mornings before their children rise.
I am grateful for each woman who stands in the face of independence and realizes that while yes, we are capable, we are stronger together. That our network of nurture and eye for beauty is more potent in community.
With all of that remember that being a woman doesn't look a certain way, there are a million different ways to embrace it, so be you. You are beautiful, and wonderful, and glorious, and hilarious and fancy and special and gracious as you are. In your tee shirt, in your high heels, in your armor and in your nakedness.
